Carolwood Summer BBQ

Please join us for great food, great music and great company on August 4, 2012. We will celebrate the “Past, Present and Future” of the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society and the Carolwood Foundation and all the changes at Walt’s Barn.

The Summer BBQ will take you back to 1955 when the Park opened. Come see the original and restored Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad Combine car that has been decorated to its Opening Day appearance. The Combine will have just returned from Fullerton Railroad Days where it joined other historic Disneyland Railroad equipment. You’ll enjoy delicious barbeque of Tri-tip, barbequed chicken, barbequed ribs and all the fixings. There’ll be something for everyone’s tastes. You’ll enjoy old-fashioned butter pecan ice cream, made with genuine steam-power! Sample old-fashion hot popcorn, ice-cold lemonade and downhome southern sweet tea.

We’ll be treated to live barbershop music sung by the Santa Monica Oceanaires. You’ll enjoy tours of Walt’s Barn with its new displays and the newly restored Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad Combine #101 rail car. Enjoy a miniature steam train ride provided by our friends at the Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum. Shop at our brand new souvenir stand, and see Ollie’s Depot. Check out some of our new acquisitions that will be on display.

Speakers for the event include:

• Michael Broggie, co-founder of the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society and founder of the Carolwood Foundation
• John Kimball, son of Disney Legend Ward Kimball will be speaking about his dad’s backyard railroad “The Grizzly Flats.” As an added bonus we will be showing early film of The Grizzly Flats!
• Disney Legend Alice Davis will also be speaking!
• Disney Legend Bob Gurr will be signing copies of his book "Design-Just for Fun!"
• Special appearence by Disney archivist Dave Smith signing his new book "Disney Trivia from the Vault!"
Michael Broggie, son of Disney Legend, Roger Broggie, will be speaking about Carolwood!

After the speakers we will have an auction featuring unique experiences and special items.

NEW AUCTION ITEM JUST ADDED: A Day at Disneyland and private lunch with Bob Gurr, the man responsible for all its wheeled vehicles, including Main Street, Autopia, and the Disneyland Monorail, and more!
